Weekly Update December 9th - 13th

Winter Celebrations & Enrollment for the 25-26 School Year

Hello CSA Friends and Families,

The next two weeks will be full of celebrations and exciting activities as we wrap up 2024 and embrace the holiday season. Here’s what to expect:

Updates and Reminders

  1. Assessments in Progress: Testing is in full swing as students complete DIBELs and STAR assessments. These are important tools for understanding student growth and planning for continued success in the second semester.

  2. Talent Show: Permissions slips are due this Monday, December 9! You can use this link to sign up. Tryouts will be held on Thursday, December 12 starting promptly at 4:00PM. Don't miss this opportunity to show off your skills!

  3. Upcoming Field Trips: On Tuesday, December 10, the first group of 8th graders will travel to Breckenridge, and the 6-8 PEDAL group will head to Denver. We are thrilled to provide these enriching opportunities for our students to learn and explore outside the classroom. Please note that staff members will be supporting these trips.

  4. New Registration Timelines: We’ve updated our school application and registration timelines to start the process earlier, allowing us to better plan for the needs of our students and teachers. To ensure your spot for next year, please complete your intent-to-reenroll forms as soon as possible. You can find more details below. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to assist!

  5. Driveline: To help keep traffic flowing smoothly, we kindly ask all families to turn right onto Irving and 72nd when leaving the school during arrival or dismissal times. Attempting to turn left can significantly impact traffic and create delays for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe and on schedule!

Fun and Festive Celebrations

  1. Candy Cane Exchange @Union: CSA Student Council is excited to host a Candy Cane Exchange at the Union Building. Starting the afternoon of Tuesday, December 10, candy canes will be available for $1.00 each. They will be delivered by the Student Council, either anonymously or on behalf of the purchaser, spreading holiday cheer throughout our community.

  2. La Plaza Christmas Clinic: La Plaza Colorado in Aurora is holding a Christmas Clinic and Santa Visit on Saturday, December 14. Check out the flyer below for more information!

  3. Student Spirit Week (December 16-20): The CSA Student Council is also organizing a whole school Spirit Week to take place the week before winter break. Please note: The school dress code applies. Students not following the dress code will need to call home for appropriate attire. We encourage families to review the policy together. Here’s what they have planned:

  • Monday, December 16: Wig Day – Wear your favorite fun or wacky wig! (Wigs can only cover hair; no masks allowed.)
  • Tuesday, December 17: Zoom Day – Dress professionally on top with a nice shirt and keep it comfy on the bottom with pajama pants!
  • Wednesday, December 18: Teachers as Students, Students as Teachers – Teachers dress like students, and students dress like teachers!
  • Thursday, December 19: Group Dress-Up Day – Coordinate with friends to dress up as a group!
  • Friday, December 20: Pajama/Onesie Day – Wear your coziest pajamas or onesie

More details about Spirit Week and other events will be shared in next week’s update.

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm as we close out the semester on a high note.

Warm regards,

Karina Costas

We believe that uniforms can help build community. We also believe that individual style is important! For that reason, there are lots of ways that students and familes can show their school spirit at STEM. In addition to the yearly shirt exchange (see flyer below), families can purchase shirts and other swag from our School Store or directly through our vendor.

Many organizations partner with schools to give back to our community, and we’re excited to share information about these valuable collaborations. Flyers detailing these partnerships will be displayed around the school and at the PTA tent, so be sure to check them out to learn how these organizations are supporting our students and programs.
