Weekly Update for April 14th - 18th

🌸 Spring Updates: Testing, Lost & Found, and a Zoo Adventure!

Hello CSA Families and Friends,

Spring is in full swing, and our campus is buzzing with learning, exploring, and testing! As we wrap up the first week of CMAS, here’s what families need to know to stay informed and involved.

📘 CMAS Testing Update – Week Two

We’ve officially finished Week One of CMAS testing! A huge shout-out to our students and staff for doing an incredible job following testing protocols and creating a calm, focused environment. Your support at home makes a big difference!

Here’s what’s ahead:

  • Remaining Testing Dates:

    • April 15–17 (AM): Math for all grades

    • April 15–17 (PM): Science for 5th & 8th grade only

  • Be on Time: Testing begins promptly in the morning. Students who arrive late may not be able to test that day.

  • No Early Pickups During Testing: Please avoid scheduling appointments or early pickups during testing hours to help all students stay focused.

🧠 As a reminder, You Can Support Your Child During Testing by:

  • Making Sure Kids Get Plenty of Sleep – A rested mind is a ready mind.

  • Helping Kids Eat a Healthy Breakfast – Include protein, fruit, and whole grains.

  • Keep Mornings Calm – Prep clothes and backpacks the night before.

  • Encourage Without Pressure – Let them know you’re proud of their effort.

  • Unplug Before Bed – Quiet evening routines help with restful sleep.

🦁 Preschool & Kinder Zoo Adventure!

Not everything at CSA has been about testing this week. While our older students have been hard at work testing, our youngest learners have been busy exploring! Preschool and kindergarten students had a fabulous trip to the zoo yesterday, and they are still brimming with excitement about everything they saw. It was a joyful and memorable experience for all!

🧤 As a final reminder, Please Check our Lost & Found

Our Lost & Found at the Irving building is overflowing with jackets, water bottles, and other items!

Please stop by before or after school to check for missing belongings.

Also, with lookalike jackets and gear, please check at home to make sure your child hasn’t accidentally picked up someone else’s item. It happens more often than you’d think! As we approach the end of the year, we want to return everything to its rightful owner.

Thank you for being such a vital part of our community. Your support helps our students succeed, whether they’re testing, learning, or exploring. Let’s finish the year strong—together!

Warmly,

Karina Costas
Principal, Colorado STEM Academy

We believe that uniforms can help build community. We also believe that individual style is important! For that reason, there are lots of ways that students and familes can show their school spirit at STEM. In addition to the yearly shirt exchange (see flyer below), families can purchase shirts and other swag from our School Store or directly through our vendor.

Many organizations partner with schools to give back to our community, and we’re excited to share information about these valuable collaborations. Flyers detailing these partnerships will be displayed around the school and at the PTA tent, so be sure to check them out to learn how these organizations are supporting our students and programs.
