Weekly Update for September 16th-20th

CSAWeeklyUpdate_09.13.24

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

I hope this message finds you well and that you are enjoying the last couple of weeks of the summer season. Fall will be here before we know it!

At CSA, we have already started preparing for our regular fall activities. The first of these is the Homecoming Parade. This year's theme is Candyland, and we have just completed the first two hours of building our float! Remember that only students who participate in the builds will be allowed to ride on the float during the parade. Also, note that this year, children will not be allowed to walk in the parade. We have a long build day tomorrow and two more scheduled for next week (from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday).

If you are unable to participate in the build, we could still use your help. Please see the message below for more details.

Speaking of help, we are also looking for volunteers for the school-wide field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on October 2nd. This amazing learning opportunity for students and teachers is another time-honored fall tradition at WPS. Recently, we have been alternating between having the museum come to us and organizing the whole-school field trip, so some families may not have experienced this great opportunity before. Reach out to teachers for more information. Also, please remember that you will need to complete a background check in order to chaperone or volunteer in the future.

Our third fall event is the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. Stay tuned for more information about these in the coming weeks. Finally, please make sure to scroll down for an important reminder about district Chromebooks.

Have a great weekend!

Warm regards,

Karina Costas

Principal, Colorado STEM Academy

Candyland Homecoming!

The Westy Homecoming Parade is just around the corner on Saturday, September 21st. This year’s theme is Candyland, and we’ll be building a “Gumdrop Castle” float. Float-building will take place at the STEM Irving Building.

We could also use help with materials. We are requesting donations of STEM colored paper plates, STEM colored crepe paper, popsicle sticks, and glitter.

Additionally, we will be collecting candy for the Homecoming Parade!

Let’s work together to create another amazing float and show the community what CSA is all about!

We believe that uniforms can help build community. We also believe that individual style is important! For that reason, there are lots of ways that students and familes can show their school spirit at STEM. In addition to the yearly shirt exchange (see flyer below), families can purchase shirts and other swag from our School Store or directly through our vendor.

Many organizations partner with schools to give back to our community, and we’re excited to share information about these valuable collaborations. Flyers detailing these partnerships will be displayed around the school and at the PTA tent, so be sure to check them out to learn how these organizations are supporting our students and programs.
