Weekly Update for September 9th-13th

CSAWeeklyUpdate_09.06.24

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

I apologize for the late message tonight—it’s been a very busy but productive short week! I have truly enjoyed meeting so many of you and continue to witness firsthand what makes CSA such a special place!

We have a few important events coming up, so please read this message in full.

There have been some changes to this year’s Homecoming Parade, and our PTA is already hard at work to make this event as memorable and exciting as ever for our kids. To ensure your student can participate and enjoy this wonderful tradition, please take a look at the important message from PTA in the section below.

Also, we are excited to announce that CSA will once again be participating in the school-wide field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on October 2nd. This is an amazing learning opportunity for all our students, but it’s also a professional development day for our teachers! While students engage in fun, educational activities at the museum, our teachers will be attending a professional development session led by educational experts in partnership with Westminster Public Schools. To ensure our students get the most out of their experience, we need volunteer chaperones to help keep groups small and maximize learning. If you’re interested in joining us, please make sure you’ve completed the district’s volunteer requirements.

That's it for now. Again, please scroll down to learn more about how your student can participate in this year's homecoming parade. This event is truly one of a kind!

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend,

Karina Costas

Principal, Colorado STEM Academy

Candyland Homecoming!

The Westy Homecoming Parade is just around the corner on Saturday, September 21st. This year’s theme is Candyland, and we’ll be building a “Gumdrop Castle” float. If your child would like to ride on the float during the parade, they must be involved in the float-building process. No walkers will be allowed this year, and space on the float will be limited. The float-building will take place at the STEM Irving Building. If you’d like to help, please meet us by the flagpole during the following times:

- Friday, September 13th: 4-6pm

- Saturday, September 14th: 8am-2pm (PTA will provide pizza for lunch)

- Thursday, September 19th: 4-6pm

- Friday, September 20th: 4-6pm

- Saturday, September 21st: Parade Day!

Additionally, we will be collecting candy for the Homecoming Parade! If you’d like to contribute, please drop off candy at the office, and it will be stored until the day of the parade. Your generosity will help make the parade even more fun for the kids!

Let’s work together to create another amazing float and show the community what CSA is all about!

We believe that uniforms can help build community. We also beleive that individual style is important! For that reason, there are lots of ways that students and familes can show their school spirit at STEM. In addition to the yearly shirt exchange (see flyer below), families can purchase shirts and other swag from our School Store or directly through our vendor.

Many organizations partner with schools to give back to our community, and we’re excited to share information about these valuable collaborations. Flyers detailing these partnerships will be displayed around the school and at the PTA tent, so be sure to check them out to learn how these organizations are supporting our students and programs.
