Orecchio, Martin will Return to Board of Education

There is no need for a Board of Education election in Westminster Public Schools this November, as only two candidates submitted the required petition signatures by the filing deadline, and both are current incumbents.

Board members Dan Orecchio and Aaron Martin will retain their seats on the WPS Board of Education, as no challengers entered the race. State law allows school districts to cancel elections when the number of candidates does not exceed the number of open seats.

This outcome ensures continuity of leadership on the Board, with Orecchio and Martin returning to continue their work on behalf of students, staff, and the broader Westminster community. Both members were first elected to the board in 2021.

Martin, who is the son of a teacher, is married to Brenda Martin, Learning Services Director and former principal. The couple has two children enrolled in the district.

Orecchio and his wife, Stephanie, both graduated from Westminster High School in 1988. He went on to become a successful architect with offices in Westminster and Fraser, Colorado. Orecchio credits a WPS drafting teacher for inspiring him to study architecture and go on to establish a successful business.

With no contested races, the district will avoid the cost of conducting an election in November and save an estimated $25,000 in election costs.
