STEM focus in a Competency Based System
Colorado STEM Academy is the only school in the state of Colorado with a focus on both instruction in the STEM fields and offering a competency-based approach to instruction where learning is truly personalized. Our mission is to “Prepare Todays Students for Life” and we believe working on personal-relational skills balanced with a rigorous approach to learning will provide our students with the tools they need for their next steps in their journey.

Open to students in any district
Students applying are not required to live within the Westminster Public Schools boundaries to qualify for enrollment. Colorado STEM Academy is an innovation public school and any families in the state of Colorado can choose to apply.
- First round Application open date- December 11-January 15
- Will be notified by January 31 about lottery results
- Second round Application open date- February 10- March 12
- Will be notified by March 21 about lottery results
All students and parents who feel Colorado STEM Academy is a good fit are encouraged to apply. Submitting an application does not guarantee admission. Levels with more applicants than open spots will be subject to a lottery. The information provided in your application will help us determine most appropriate placement in our competency-based approach upon acceptance.
To apply to Colorado STEM Academy you must complete and submit an application for each student.

Thank you for your interest in our school programming and for your patience during our application process. At Colorado STEM Academy, we strongly believe in a robust screening process in order to ensure that all of our new students are successful members of our learning community. Upon enrollment, our staff uses this information to assist with appropriate placement in our competency-based approach to instruction.
Our program is fun and engaging but very rigorous. In order to ensure that students succeed in this program, we feel it’s necessary for both parents and students to understand the commitments necessary in order to be successful.
